Welcome
Welcome to the Colorado Association of Libraries' Library Instruction Interest Group wiki!
This is where we can share files, edit documents, and post information for our group. We can spend some time at the August meeting on how to use this wiki, so don't worry if you've never used one before.

Jeff Holstein - I would like to share the web site:
Library Terms That Users Understand by John Kupersmith at http://www.jkup.net/terms.html
"This site is intended to help library web developers decide how to label key resources and services in such a way that most users can understand them well enough to make productive choices." Even if you have no control over the terminology used on your web site this information will help you in instructing your users.

I gave a library orientation two weeks ago and introduced the visual search tab. I haven't had any feedback from anyone in the speech class. I have seen a couple of students using it when they have asked me over to help them narrow their searches.

Jody Condit Fagan from James Madison University presented an interesting Visual Search usability study at “Electronic Resources and Libraries Conference”. It is now available through open access at http://smartech.gatech.edu/handle/1853/10174 .
Paul Betty (11.13.06)
For those who were at the CoLIG meeting at CAL, you may recall I mentioned the COPPUL Animated Tutorial Sharing Project (ANTS). For more information about this project, which allows librarians to share the source files and finished tutorials they have created, check out this post on the Distant Librarian

The link in Paul Pival's post to the repository didn't seem to work, so here is a current link:

If you go to Chad's post on Library Voice, you can find a link to a similar project begun at Ohio University (only one tutorial on ASP to share so far...)

Has anyone heard of/tried a game for library instruction?
I'm wondering if some users might respond well to some video games that teach library skills.

Probably old news to most of you, but wanted to post the URL to the PRIMO (Peer-Reviewed Instructional Materials Online) Database, a site sponsored by ACRL Instruction Section.

A good place to see what other libraries are doing, gain some ideas, or find tutorials you want to link to.-Paul Betty
